Remembering Louise Garbe, A Volunteer With The Doney Clinic For Over 28 Years
If you donated to The Doney Clinic in the past, you likely received a handwritten thank you note from Louise Garbe. Past clients and volunteers with the clinic all know Louise because she came to the Union Gospel Mission every 2nd and 4th Saturday to check Doney Clinic clients in and document treatments on 3X4 note cards. In declining health for the past few years, Louise continued to keep her finger on the pulse of the Doney Clinic. For over 28 years, Louise volunteered for The Doney Clinic as a board member and as treasurer, diligently keeping the books and facilitating veterinary care between Doney and other clinics. Sadly, Louise Garbe passed away on Sunday, November 30th, 2014, at age 91. Everyone at The Doney Clinic offers sincere condolences to Louise's family and heartfelt thanks for her many years of tireless work on behalf of Seattle's low income families and their companion animals. There is no more admirable a life lived than the one of Louise's total commitment to The Doney Clinic and the ideals of providing quality veterinary care to those who could not afford it. She was truly a great animal and pet lover as well as a generously kind friend to all of her fellow humans.
